Dear Friends,
Just like clock work. . .
We warned you she would do it and she did.
County Executive Tari Moore gave in to Martin O’Malley's Plan Maryland scheme.
Moore administratively approved a Tier Map and submitted it to the state of Maryland.
Ultimately, in Tari Moore's mind, the angry public outcry and opposition to Plan Maryland didn't matter.
Even with the prospect of counties banding together to sue the state, Tari Moore decided to take the easy way out.
By adopting a Tier Map we boxed ourselves in.
I promise you that O'Malley and his cronies are going to come back again in 2013 and beyond to build off of the tier maps to further restrict property rights.
The Tier Maps serve as a foothold.
Once we adopt Tier Maps, the central planners in Annapolis have us right where they want us.
Adoption of a Tier Map opens the flood gates to state intervention in local land use decisions.
O'Malley and the liberals in Annapolis are going to pile on regulation after regulation associated with each tier.
You see, Tari Moore doesn't get this.
Her press release on her decision to submit a tier map stated how the map she submitted reduced the amount of Tier IV areas to only those already preserved.
This is irrelevant.
We still have every single parcel of property in Cecil County now placed in 1 of 4 categories that the state dictates.
By adopting a Tier Map, we have accepted all of the new restrictions put in place with each tier.
What happens if the status of any of the Tier IV county land or preserved properties changes?
By designating them Tier IV now we are restricting them forever, regardless of future circumstances.
Further, what about property owners who will be impacted by restrictions in Tier III?
Under Tari Moore's map more than half the county is under Tier III or Tier IV designation.
Friends, when is enough, enough?
Do we want leaders that will explain away and deflect blame when we lose our freedom and liberty?
Are we to accept excuses for compliance with Constitution shredding laws?
Or do we want leaders who won't budge one inch when it comes to protecting our rights as guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution?
It has not been more than a month since Tari Moore took her oath of office in which she pledged to protect and defend the U.S. Constitution.
Are our Constitutional rights debatable or negotiable?
Are we to accept breadcrumbs from Martin O'Malley's table?
Plan Maryland and S.B. 236 amount to the most expansive taking of private property rights in Maryland state history.
And our County Executive responds to Martin O'Malley with a sheepish "yes sir."
Year after year counties and towns in Maryland raise the white flag of surrender to the state.
Cecil County Campaign for Liberty believes that local politicians are the last defense the people have against tyranny.
Instead of local lap dogs we need watch dogs.
Our county and town leaders need to be unwavering in defense of the peoples' Constitutional rights.
Cecil County C4L has been outspoken in our belief that refusing to submit any tier map was the only way to take a meaningful stand against big government.
We strongly condemn Tari Moore’s decision to appease the bureaucrats in Annapolis.
We will be noting her decision in the “Liberty Votes” section of our website.
Unfortunately, given Tari Moore's historic voting record, she currently has a dismal 20% Liberty Score.
If you agree that County Executive Tari Moore is not standing up for your property rights, please call or email her at:
