Michael Dawson Files for Cecil County Commissioner (District 4)

Committing to never raise taxes, to fight to reduce crime and to work for open government, retired police officer and Cecil County resident Michael Dawson filed today the required forms for his run for Cecil County Commissioner in District 4.

Michael has dedicated his life to public safety while serving for 13 years as a Prince George’s County police officer. During his tenure, Dawson also served on the Criminal Investigation Division’s Sex Offender Unit. He worked for one year at the Department of Corrections in Anne Arundel County as a Background Investigator.

Over the course of Michael’s distinguished career in public safety, he has been honored with 16 Letters of Commendation, 4 Unit Citations, 3 Good Conduct Awards, and 2 Chief Awards. He also received the Silver Medal of Valor for saving a family from a life threatening domestic violence incident as he and another officer were on patrol in Prince George’s County. Michael has demonstrated proven leadership in his role as a certified Fields Training Officer with the Prince George’s County Police Department where he trained new recruits for the police force.

In addition to Dawson’s practical experience in public safety, he was also certified as a Life and Health Insurance Producer through the New York Life Insurance Company. He is currently a certified Private Investigator and was previously a licensed Real Estate Appraiser. In the community, Michael serves as the Political Director for the Cecil County Young Republicans and as the Vice President of the Beacon Point Homeowner’s Association in Perryville. He attended Prince George’s County Community College taking courses in law enforcement and public safety and is a graduate of Surrattsville High School located in Clinton, Md.

Dawson is the owner and operator of a small business, Smiles-2-Go, a local teeth whitening services company based out of Perryville. Michael and Cassie, his wife of five years, reside in Perryville with their two children, Luke and Olivia.

The Friends of Michael Dawson are hosting a “Campaign Kick-Off Comedy Show” on Thursday, October 8th, 2009 at 7pm. The comedy show will be held at the Susky River Grille located at 600 Rowland Dr., Port Deposit, MD 21904. Ticket prices are $20 per person. Sponsorships are available.
