There was an interesting commentary on charter government in the News Journal today.
However, our commissioners have shown the wisdom to institute a charter board, in which a group of nine citizens, including me, will draft a charter that will set up a county executive/county council form of government.

I agree that it is past time. I am not convinced that an elected Executive is the best choice, due primarily to the need for that person to raise campaign funds and devote time away from the job to campaigning. New Castle County went through a disasterous period due to this problem, though I believe it was due more to the individual than the position. If residents want more information, contact the Cecil County Library for a VCR tape of the fairly recent presentations on the subject
