I was asked to post the following:
Cecil County Commissioners in their next meeting will have a proposal brought forth, and will be voted on in the following meeting on entering into talks with Artestian Water Company to take over all county facilities except the North East Sanitary District. All facilities and assets for the following plants will be given to Artesian if proposal if passed:
Meadowview water and wastewater, Highlands water and wastewater, Cherry Hill wastewater, Harborview water and wastewater and Cherry Hill wastewater.

Artesian article in Cecil Whig today, but fails to show on Cecil Whig Website.
Meeting tommorrow 2:00 PM County Admin. Building.
This sounds like a good plan to me as far as I can tell.
- Lower cost liability
- protection for the current employees so they are not impacted.
- Allows the county to focus on more important operations.
What I would like to see is for someone to boil it down to layman's terms...what are the advantages, what are the risks, what are the negatives?
in an Artesian article it states that the costs for improvements will be distributed across the board to all its consumer base. Does this mean that a Cecil County resident will be paying for the cost of the future Georgetown Delaware water and wastwewater plants? Could this be the reason the County is holding on to one wastewater plant, because the consumer base cannot afford the improvements to that one facility?
Artesian Water Co of Maryland will only be Cecil County, so if improvments are made to any of the Artesian plants within Cecil County, then all customers in Cecil County rates would be effected. The plant that the county is retaining are based only on the rates in the North East sanitary district.
I see by Friday's paper the Artesian Water and Wastewater Task Force has spoken, they all came out in unison for it, must have rehearsed it on the Artesian Bus Tour. It's funny that privatation was last on their recommendations!
